Will Joao Felix play against Fulham? Graham Potter reveals when the Portuguese star will make his Chelsea debut
Graham Potter makes claim over whether Joao Felix will feature for Chelsea against Fulham on Thursday night.
The Blues boss has claimed in his pre-match press conference that Joao Felix is physically ready to feature for Chelsea against Fulham.
He went on to say that the Blues are just awaiting the confirmation of his registration in order to put him in contention for a start in the West London derby.
The club today confirmed the forward had joined on a temporary basis, coming on loan until the end of the season.
There is currently no clause that suggests Chelsea have an obligation, or even an option, to buy him permanently when that loan comes to an end.
The 23-year-old has been brought in to try and help solve the creativity issues that have made things extremely difficult at Stamford Bridge this season.
Potter could start Felix
Their top assister in the Premier League sits on just two assists, an unacceptable feat for a side with the ambitions of Chelsea.
Potter has claimed now that he is hoping to have the Portugal star available as early as tomorrow.
He said: “He’s been training regularly and had game time, so physically he can go in. There’s a little unknown with the adaptation period, it can be case-by-case. I see a confident player, who can impose himself, make the difference in the final third.”
“Nice to get him training today, we are still waiting on confirmation [of registration] for him to play [against Fulham].”
If available, Felix may walk straight into the starting line-up due to a number of injury issues at Stamford Bridge.
Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic will both be missing for a while after suffering injuries against Manchester City, leaving their depth out wide extremely dry.
Felix will be hoping to quickly form a relationship with wing-back Reece James, after claiming he has already met him before joining the club.
