What Chelsea staff were joking about Cristiano Ronaldo after rumours Boehly could sign him
Reports have claimed that Chelsea staff were making jokes throughout the summer about if Cristiano Ronaldo joined Chelsea.
According to Sky Sports, some employees at the club joked that the acronym CFC would begin to stand for ‘Cristiano FC’.
The Blues new owner Todd Boehly was extremely keen to bring the veteran striker into the club this summer.
The American has forged a strong relationship with Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, as he looked to pull off the sensational deal this summer.
The owner ran into the issue of manager at the time. Thomas Tuchel was firmly against the idea of signing the Portuguese legend,
The German was far more keen on a move for Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, having worked with him before at Borussia Dortmund.

He eventually got his wish on deadline day, although only got one game to work with him before being sacked.
Despite the manager’s insistence on not signing him, the stature of the potential signing saw him continue to dominate the headlines.
This occurred to such an extent that according to Sky Sports, the fact that the club couldn’t be mentioned without Ronaldo following quickly after wasn’t lost on members of staff at the club.
If reports are to be believed, the interest in the out-of-favour striker may not be over just yet.
The claims that Boehly and Mendes’ relationship is strong has led to rumours that the Blues may rescue him from his United woes.
With Tuchel not there to stop the interest, the American could finally secure the marquee signing he has been looking for since taking over the club earlier this year.
It is so far unclear whether Graham Potter is keen on the deal, however Boehly is surely likely to have another say in things in the next window.
