Revealed: Why Chelsea sacked their new commercial director after just a month at the club
Chelsea have sacked newly appointed commercial director Damien Willoughby after he was revealed to have sent numerous inappropriate messages to football agent Catalina Kim last summer.
Willoughby, previously at Man City, was only appointed a month ago, but has been instantly terminated after Kim sent the messages on to Tom Glick, Chelsea’s new director of business.
Matt Law’s sensational scoop in the Daily Telegraph tonight has all the salacious details, including direct quotes and claims of an explicit video. Kim was in need of access to Man City chief executive Ferran Soriano.
It’s another embarrassing moment for the club’s new ownership, who can’t seem to do right for doing wrong at the moment. The incident took place in June last year, long before they were even on the scene, but the taint will be on Chelsea where he worked when the news broke, rather than on Man City, where he was at the time.
