Report: Chelsea learn date of Christopher Nkunku transfer
Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement ‘in place’ to sign Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig.
The 25-year-old, who has a solid four-year contract with the Bundesliga side, has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with Stamford Bridge said to be his preferred destination.
According to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, club owner Todd Boehly is prepared to pay slightly above £56m in the release clause for the player which will be active in the summer of 2023.
Chelsea wants to wipe up a deal before the release clause is active and they are feeling confident that deal for the Frenchman is all but finalized, with main issue left to address is whether Nkunku will move to Stamford Bridge in January or at the end of the current campaign.
On Tuesday, Jacobs took to his Twitter page to give an update on transfer, he wrote:
“Christopher Nkunku update. Although Leipzig call a move to Chelsea a “transfer rumour”, am told there is now a broad club-to-club agreement in place for summer 2023 worth around €70m” (£60m).
