Report: Chelsea in talks to replace Graham Potter with Zinedine Zidane

Chelsea in talks with Champions League winner about replacing Potter – Big claim made

Former Chelsea con Emmanuel Petit believes Zinedine Zidane is not the answer for the Blues if Todd Boehly was to sack Graham Potter.

Graham Potter’s position as Chelsea manager continues to become less and less secure as he lost his third game in a row on Sunday afternoon. The 2-0 loss to Tottenham follows a shock defeat to Southampton last weekend and the Champions League first leg blow against Borussia Dortmund before that.

The run for Chelsea is now the worst in the league for 10 years and continues a period of form going back to October that is as bad as any since 1995. Spurs’ win against their fierce London rivals was also the first in the league at their new stadium.

There has been constant speculation that the Chelsea board are very keen on hiring Zidane – who is out of work – but a manager that has won the biggest trophies and managed the best players during his time as manager.

However – amid the speculation that Chelsea have contacted the Frenchman about a move to London – Petit has opened up and claimed that Zidane is not the answer should the board decide to sack Potter – speaking to Premier League Odds, Petit said:

“Zinedine Zidane doesn’t speak English so he’s not the proper choice for CHELSEA to replace Potter, with all due respect to my former teammate.

“Potter has been there since September, are you really going to fire him? They should stick with him as they still have the chance to win the Champions League.

“If you sack Potter, someone who comes to the club straight away will have to adapt and do the right things and fans must understand it will take weeks and weeks. I won’t judge Potter now for the bad results.”
