Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on his Substack page that Chelsea are considering making a move to sign midfielder Ruben Neves.
The Wolverhampton Wanderers man has continued to show his class despite his side failing to impress this season.
His goalscoring has seemingly risen as well this season. He has already matched his entire tally of four from last campaign.
Chelsea will certainly be in the market for at least one midfielder in the upcoming transfer windows.
They are potentially facing an exodus of talent in that position at the end of the season.
Chelsea want Neves
Meanwhile, there have still been no advancements in negotiations to extend Jorginho’s time at the club.
Both midfielders are set to see their deals expire at the end of the season, and reports have claimed in the past that people at the club are scared the Italy midfielder is allowing his contract to run down to secure a move back to the Serie A.
Phillips has reported that the club are now looking to Neves as a potential replacement in January.
He said: “I’ve been told over the weekend that Ruben Neves is once again coming up in recruitment conversations and is a player being recommended by some at the club as a midfield target we should push for in January.”
Neves’ ability on the ball is right up there with the best in the league, and he would certainly be a competent option in the middle of the park.
However, some Blues fans may be hopeful their midfield additions come in much bigger names than the Wolves man, with them still strongly linked for a move for Jude Bellingham.
