OFFICIAL: Chelsea confirm deal to sign Molde striker as January transfer gets underway
Chelsea announced the signing of 20-year-old Ivory Coast striker David Datro Fofana, who will join once the January transfer window opens.
The Molde starlet will complete a move to the west London club for a transfer fee of £10.6million.
Chelsea released a statement on Wednesday (December 28), announcing that a pre-agreement has been reached.
The club said: “Chelsea FC has reached a pre-agreement with Molde FK for the transfer of David Datro Fofana.
“The 20-year-old striker will join the Blues on 1 January 2023. We look forward to welcoming David to the club!”
Chelsea have been looking for a forward to bolster their attacking efforts going into the second half of the season, with Graham Potter’s side sitting eighth in the Premier League table following their 2-0 win over Bournemouth on December 27.
A significant injury blow to Armando Broja has increased the urgency of the search for a new striker, with the 21-year-old frontman facing a spell on the sidelines after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, ruling him out for the rest of the season.
