No longer needed – Chelsea ready to sell €25m star who wants to leave
Chelsea are reportedly open to let of their key player leave next summer transfer window as Graham Potter keen on squad rebuild.
The Foot Mercato reported that the Blues are ready to listen to offers for Edouard Mendy. The 30-year-old was solid during his debut season at Stamford Bridge but has been making some high-profile errors lately.
Mendy has continued to struggle for consistency between the sticks this season to the extent of losing his place in the starting XI to Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The report claimed that Chelsea are now considering parting ways with the Senegal international if the right offer comes in after he stalled talks over a new contract with the club.
Aside from Mendy, Kepa could also be heading towards the exit door despite his recent form under Potter this season.
The Blues want to capitalise on his recent revival by selling him for a decent fee. The Spaniard cost a staggering £72m from Athletic Bilbao.
Summer signing Gabriel Slonina could be promoted as the back-up goalkeeper next term. Porto’s Diogo Costa is one of the top targets for the London side.
