New Chelsea signing to fly in this week to start training with Graham Potter’s squad
New Chelsea goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina will fly to London on Wednesday and begin a short training stint with the Blues, according to reports.
The American signed for Chelsea in August from Chicago Fire but was immediately loaned back to the MLS side for the remainder of 2022
Fire have now played their final match of the regular season, drawing 1-1 at home to New England Revolution on Sunday.
Slonina did not play and hasn’t featured since September 18 after picking up a head injury late last month.
Chelsea signed the 18-year-old in early August for a fee of up to £12million. But now he is set to train with his new team for the first time.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims Slonina will be in England for a couple of weeks before travelling back to the USA for a training camp ahead of the World Cup. Romano tweeted: “New face @ Cobham “Gabriel Slonina will fly to London on Wednesday and join Chelsea for the following 13 days, as MLS regular season is over.
