Mason Mount injury update as Graham Potter faces anxious wait ahead of Villa
Chelsea star Mason Mount is set to undergo a medical scan on a thigh problem that came up lately.
Chelsea are still hopeful however, that Mount will be fit enough to play against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday.
This is according to The Athletic, which reports that the influential midfielder missed training on Friday, and has been sent for further assessment on his thigh, following a discomfort.
Chelsea Universal understands the decision by the club to get Mason Mount checked for the thigh problem, is a precautionary measure, with the Blues hopeful that it is not a serious one.
Mount has been a key performer in Graham Potter’s new look Chelsea side, regaining top form and producing three assists in 2 games so far.
After a quiet start to the season under Thomas Tuchel, which also saw him dropped from Gareth Southgate’s starting line-up for England last month, he has looked to be back to his best in recent weeks.
This comes following confirmed news that injured star midfielder N’Golo Kante is out of contention for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar in November, with defender Reece James likely to miss too, with a knee injury.
