Joe Cole explains why Chelsea will have a busy January transfer window

Potter told to stop tinkering with players that are fit enough to play more after shock loss to Brighton.

Former Chelsea winger Joe Cole expects Chelsea to have a busy transfer window, a busier than normal January window.

Notoriously, the winter transfer window is not as busy as the summer purely because there is less time to get deals done.

But Cole believes that due to the World Cup being on this month and into December, this gives clubs longer to sort deals out and put plans in to place ready for when January begins.

Speaking to The Daily Express, the pundit says: “I think the work would have been done there would have been processed but the clubs will go away for four weeks and they will be able to be meeting there’ll be talks of agents and if there is availability.

“We may see more business in this window because of that because It’s actually more time to actually think about them and put the deals in place. Sometimes in January, things don’t happen because of just because simply because of time constraints. We may actually see the club trying to get more business but it’s certainly something to watch for. It’s an unusual time.”

We know that Todd Boehly has been busy building up relations with clubs and agents since he took charge of Chelsea at the start of the summer, so the foundations will already be in place for them.

Boehly wants Chelsea to be up there competing with the likes of Manchester City once again, and he knows that he needs to spend more money investing in the squad over the next couple of transfer windows now.
