Joao Felix sends Champions League message ahead of Borussia Dortmund clash

Joao Felix ready to win Champions League with Chelsea after netting first goal for club since £9.7m loan switch

Joao Felix is enjoying his time at Chelsea after signing on loan from Atletico Madrid last month and hopes to win the Champions League this season.

The 23-year-old returned to the Chelsea side after missing the last three games due to suspension and instantly hit the ground running after scoring the game’s opener as well as opening his Blues account.

Fellow new arrival Enzo Fernandez clipped a ball into the ball and Felix volleyed it into the back of the net after 16 minutes to give the visitors a deserved lead.

Chelsea were unable to see the game out, conceding 12 minutes later to former defender Emerson Palmieri, who punished Graham Potter’s side for poor defending at the back post.

It ended honours even in the capital, extending Chelsea’s run to four games unbeaten but ensured they settled for a third consecutive draw.

The pressure is now on Chelsea, who have won just two of their last 13 Premier League games, and they now head to Germany for a Champions League tie against Borussia Dortmund in the last 16.

Felix was in buoyant mood despite the dropped points after getting on the scoresheet, and is now, along with his teammates, focusing on going all way in Europe to clinch the club’s third Champions League trophy.

Here’s every word Felix told Chelsea TV after the stalemate at the London Stadium.

Chelsea doing enough to beat West Ham

“Yeah, we did, I think, enough to win but it’s football, they defend well. The first 30 minutes we score three goals, two don’t count, but we were there. We had the chances to score, we draw, but we got the sensation that we could have got the three points.

Quality of Chelsea side and settling in

“Playing in this team with such quality that this team has it’s easy. We will connect well, when that happens the team does well. Unfortunately we didn’t get the three points. For sure, the next game we will get the three points.”

First Chelsea goal

“It means a lot after this one month stop, it was difficult for me, I just want to play. Today was the day and I score my first goal with this club. It’s a huge, huge happiness.”

Atmosphere in England

“Loved the atmosphere here in the Premier League. This derby, as you all know, it’s difficult to play. But I did really enjoy the sensation of the stadium.”

Champions League aim

“Now it’s focus on the next game, the most important game is the next, always. It’s Champions League, that’s the competition that we want to win. So it starts on Wednesday our Champions League and it needs to be ours.”
