According to Gallagher, Tuchel believes 22-year-old has the same attributes as N’Golo Kante, who has made 262 appearances for Chelsea since his £40 million from Leicester City in 2016.

The 31-year-old has helped Chelsea to win Premier League title during his first season at Stamford Bridge, won the Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup, Club World Cup and Super Cup.

Conor Gallagher, who recently broke into Chelsea’s first team under Thomas Tuchel after the midfielder returned an impressive loan spell at Crystal Palace last season, scoring eight goals across all competitions for the Eagles.

Gallagher, who is currently in Qatar with England for the 2022 World Cup, made this revealation when quizzed about that comparison.

“When he said it, it made me giggle and slightly surprised me, “In response to Tuchel’s comparison of him to Kante, Gallagher stated.

“I feel like he’s the finest midfielder in the world, maybe still now when he’s fit, so it’s obviously a tremendous praise, even if I’m half the player Kante is.

“It is clear that we are different players. He probably travels a little more and is a little smarter than I am. We are different players, therefore, yeah.”
