“I want more money” – Chelsea star REJECTED new contract before heading to World Cup
According to reports, Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount rejected a new contract before heading to World Cup in Qatar with the England national team.
The 23-year-old has a contract with the Blues until 2024 and Chelsea has been in negotiations with the midfielder for a while now but there is no breakthrough yet.
According to Daily Mail, Mount rejected a new contract worth over £200,000-a-week before flying out to Qatar. The report claimed the midfielder is demanding for a deal similar to that of Raheem Sterling who earns £300,000-a-week.
The academy graduate has established himself as a regular starter since breaking into the first team in 2019 during Frank Lampard’s reign as the Blues boss.
Chelsea will look to resume talks with the Englishman when he returns from the World Cup as he also seen as a key part of Graham Potter squad.
It was previously reported that several European clubs like Liverpool and Juventus are closely monitoring the situation at Stamford Bridge and could make a move for the midfielder.
