Graham Potter says he loves working with 23-year-old Chelsea player

Explained: Why Kai Havertz was allowed to retake crucial penalty for Chelsea against Borussia Dortmund

Chelsea head coach Graham Potter has shared that he loves working with Kai Havertz.

Potter took charge at Chelsea half a year ago and inherited a group full of high-profile individuals, something that was fairly alien to him.

Interestingly, he’s picked Havertz 28 times so far, which is more than anyone else in the Blues squad.

The £150,000-a-week attacker has been the first name on the team sheet under this manager.

His return of eight goals in 35 games across all competitions this season does feel a bit below par, but he’s definitely started to rediscover some of his best form in the last couple of weeks.

Kai Havertz a real favourite

It’s obvious from Potter’s interviews and team selections that he loves the Germany international.

He’s admitted that it’s a delight coaching Havertz during a glowing assessment of him.

“I think he is a confident player, but he is also someone who you need to help. I can’t speak highly enough of him, to be honest. He has given everything all the time, does his absolute best, takes responsibility, and is an absolute dream to work with as a coach,” Potter said, as quoted by Football London.

Havertz, who’s scored in back-to-back games, should go into today’s match with huge confidence.

We expect the 23-year-old star will start again in Saturday’s Premier League fixture at home to Everton.

He is about to join up with the Germany squad for the international break, but it would be great for him to sign off in style this weekend.

Journalist Simon Phillips recently told GiveMeSport that Chelsea’s board are huge admirers of Havertz.

It looks like the manager agrees!
