Fabrizio Romano gives fresh verdict on whether Graham Potter will be sacked
Chelsea will continue to protect manager Graham Potter despite another defeat against Tottenham at the weekend, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues remain tenth in the Premier League table, having won just two of their last ten league fixtures since Christmas, but Romano claims the Blues’ stance on Potter hasn’t changed:
“Internally at Chelsea, they feel the same; Graham Potter deserves time, which is why they are protecting him. This is still the same message after the game today. It’s time to support the manager, but the situation is getting intense.”
Pressure on Potter is beginning to mount, with some supporters even signing a petition to have him sacked following the loss to Spurs on Sunday.
Performances have been dire and, while trying to get a team to gel together with so many new players is not easy, fans are entitled to expect better results than this.
While nobody anticipated the team challenging for trophies this season, the fact that the club are sitting midtable, having spent well over £600m, is quite extraordinary. A win against Leeds this weekend is an absolute must for Potter to stop his employers from wielding the axe.
