€21m star expected to remain at Stamford Bridge for the rest of the season (Details)
Denis Zakaria is set to stay at Chelsea for the duration of the 2022-23 season after his selection against Dinamo Zagreb.
The 25-year-old made his debut in the Champions League on Wednesday night with Chelsea having already won Group E, marking it with a first-half goal to put the Blues in front.
There were doubts over whether the Switzerland international would play due to FIFA rules, which state that he is only eligible to play for two teams in a single season.
Having already lined up twice for Juventus this season, it means that he now can’t seek another loan move in January.
Manager Graham Potter spoke about his selection ahead of kick-off: “He’s a big powerful boy who can break up attack and join the attacks himself.
“He has been working hard behind the scenes, supporting the team, so it is nice to see him play tonight. Hopefully he’ll do well and give us competition there.”
The Turin giants have also said that they don’t want their midfielder back this season which means he will remain in west London for the duration of the campaign.
