Chelsea set to beat Liverpool to sign €16m-rated Premier League midfielder
It’s a matter of weeks before the winter transfer window opens, Chelsea have been linked with a number of players as Graham Potter seeks to strengthen his squad following start to the season.
The latest player to be linked with the Blues is Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge. While he was playing for Genk, the Norway international was previously linked with the London club under Roman Abramovich administration.
The 24-year-old has now reappeared on Chelsea’s radar ahead of the January transfer window, according to the latest report from Jeunes Footeux, as cited by news account ChelsTransfer.
The report suggests that the midfielder could be open to a move with Chelsea and Liverpool both interested in his services. However, he won’t come cheap because his contract with Sheffield does not expire until 2024.
While Chelsea could use a defensive midfielder in their squad, they are unlikely to make a move for Berge.
