Chelsea in bidding war for €25m-rated creative Serie A midfielder

Chelsea have stepped up their interest in Juventus footballer Adrien Rabiot and have established direct contact with the midfielder through coach Thomas Tuchel to get the deal over the line. The 27-year-old midfielder is also being courted by their rivals, Manchester United.

The German coach has had a long-standing interest in Adrien, and Chelsea were eager to add the midfielder this winter as well. They wanted to cut short Saul Niguez’s year-long loan deal from Atletico Madrid, but the footballer chose to stay, which adversely affected their move for Rabiot.

Saul Niguez is now ready to return to Atletico Madrid after this month, which would leave the London club needing a replacement. The German manager wants the club to return to the market for France international, who he managed at PSG.

The French midfielder is not expected to cost much with only a year remaining on his deal with the Old Lady. The aforementioned report quotes a sum of €15m could be enough to get the deal through, which shouldn’t be a problem for the Blues.

Thomas Tuchel is reportedly keen to add the Frenchman this summer and has taken it upon him to get the deal through. The German manager called the former PSG midfielder to ‘understand the situation’ as he wants to reunite with the footballer at Chelsea this summer.

Nevertheless, with Thomas Tuchel said to have spoken directly with Adrien Rabiot, Chelsea’s interest in the player could be serious. And it will be interesting to see if it materialises into a formal approach in the coming weeks.
