Anthony Gordon: Why Tuchel wants Chelsea to sign the Everton star in a £60m deal

Chelsea are making a good attempt to sign Anthony Gordon this summer. Everton have supposedly requested an expense of £60m for the winger and won’t allow him to leave until that cost is met.

A ton of fans have been inquiring as to whether Gordon is worth such a lot of cash given that he has just scored four goals in 54 Premier League appearances.

While his goalscoring and assists numbers presumably need to improve, there are two things he is ridiculously great at for a winger – pressures and tackles.

Investigate this episode from the first day of the season game against Chelsea where he fantastically presses Kante and Jorginho to win possession back for his group:

We did some further digging and as per stats website Fbref, Gordon averages a whopping 23 pressures and 2.4 tackles per game. Both of these stats rank him in the top five per cent of European wingers/attacking midfielders in this category.

The talent is there for all to see and Thomas Tuchel will no doubt be a fan of the winger’s persistence and ability to win the ball back by hounding his opponents.
