With less than a week left in the transfer window, it has become of extreme importance that some last-minute signings are completed. Chelsea had three bids rejected for the young star, increasing in value from £50 million up to £70 million. It appears however a fourth offer has been successful.

On Friday it was reported that Chelsea reached a verbal agreement with Brendan Rodgers’ side for the defender.

Lineker said: “Gutted to lose him but wish Wesley Fofanaa well. Every player wants to play Champions League football so it’s understandable.

Chelsea fans, you’ve got the most prodigiously talented young central defender in the world. Yes, I believe he’s that good.”
