£50m star will be ‘most excited’ about Graham Potter’s move to Stamford Bridge
According to transfer insider Dean Jones, Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher will be most thrilled by Graham Potter’s appointment in west London.
Jones believes that with Potter in charge of his boyhood club, Gallagher will be more confidence in his ability to be “successful” there. The former Brighton manager has taken Thomas Tuchel’s place in the Stamford Bridge dugout.
After spending a year on loan at Crystal Palace, Gallagher returned to Chelsea this summer, but life for the England star has not been easy.
He didn’t play much in the early stages of the season and was hauled off at Leeds on his complete debut before being dismissed against Leicester at Stamford Bridge last month.
Despite receiving a red card, Gallagher returned to the lineup right away after serving his suspension; however, he did not play in Tuchel’s farewell match as head coach on Tuesday against Dinamo Zagreb.
Jones believes Gallagher, who the club valued at £50 million last year, will have a much better chance of having a successful career at Chelsea alongside Potter, one of the most highly regarded young English managers in the nation.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think Gallagher is the one who will be most excited about this.
“I think it gives him a much better chance of being successful at Chelsea. Gallagher always had this fear that ultimately Chelsea would just sign somebody in his position if things weren’t going perfectly and that would be the end of that.”
