£100m star set to join Chelsea after beating Bayern Munich to January signing
Chelsea have been handed a massive boost in their pursuit of Atletico Madrid attacker Joao Felix after Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich allegedly push out of the race.
The Portuguese star is said to be keen on leaving the La Liga side in the upcoming transfer window after falling out with manager Diego Simeone and Chelsea are understood to be closely monitoring development at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
It was previously reported that Bayern Munich are also interested in signing the 23-year-old but Sport1 journalist Karry Hau have debunked talk of Bayern’s interest in the former Benfica man.
He said: “Bayern are no longer interested in Joao Félix, contrary to recent reports in Spain. The Portuguese striker was an option for Bayern last summer, but Félix is no longer an issue at Bayern.”
Atletico Madrid CEO Gil Marin have recently confirmed that they are open to selling the 23-year-old and according to football.london, Arsenal are also interested in signing the player who is valued at around £100 million.
When discussing Felix’s future at the Madrid club, Marin said: “Joao Felix has top level but because of his relationship with Simeone and game time… we feel that makes sense to consider potential bids to sell him.”
