£100k-a-week Chelsea star rejects DISRESPECTFUL contract over low wages
Edouard Mendy has turned down a six-year contract offer from Chelsea as the Senegal goalkeeper’s future at Stamford Bridge hangs in the balance.
Mendy has fallen down the pecking order in the Chelsea camp following the appointment of Graham Potter to the top job with the latter preferring Kepa Arrizabalaga to the first-choice spot between the goalposts.
According to a report from The Sun , it is claimed that Mendy, who pockets £100,000 a week at the Bridge, wants to earn parity with his fellow goalkeeper Kepa whose salary is believed to be nearly twice that.
The report sounds out that the Chelsea camp have pulled the plug on further talks with Mendy and his camp with the Blues mulling over looking at other options in the transfer market with the January window just days away.
Aston Villa’s shot-stopper Emi Martinez, on the back of his heroics in the World Cup with the champions Argentina, has been tipped as one of the names Chelsea should set their sights on to address their goalkeeping situation this season.
